Brent Ferrell, P.E.

Mechanical Engineer

Hi, I’m Brent Ferrell, Senior Mechanical Engineer at Kurzynske & Associates. I’m from Nashville and have lived in the middle Tennessee area my entire life. I graduated from Hillwood High School, and in 1996 from Tennessee Technological University with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.

My dad started an HVAC/Refrigeration company when I was young. As a kid and into my teens, I would tag along on some jobs when he needed a “gofer”, and that’s where my interest began. In high school, I studied drafting for three years, and thought about becoming an architect. After graduation, I enrolled at Nashville Tech and graduated with an Associate’s degree in Architectural Technology. From there, I worked part-time doing CAD drawings. It was then that I realized I missed the mechanical aspect of working with equipment.  I made the decision to enroll at Tennessee Tech to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

After graduating from Tennessee Tech, my goal was to obtain my Professional Engineering license. In 1996, I started working for Kurzynske & Associates. I started out in HVAC design and soon thereafter began to layout plumbing. My work experience includes HVAC and plumbing design for national restaurant chains, commercial/retail projects, college campuses, and mechanical room layouts.  While working here, I have achieved my original goal of passing the Professional Engineer’s exam.  I’m always striving to keep up with the ever-changing equipment and design requirements to meet today’s energy codes and standards, by attending numerous seminars and development sessions each year.

My free time consists of spending it with my wife and two boys. We try to do as much as possible in the outdoors. From hiking and camping, to traveling and visiting national parks across the country.  I also enjoy hunting, fishing, and golf.
